Hello everyone, Voxel and the team here, standing in for DasRay. I know, it’s been a really long time, but now we finally bring you Volume 12 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

We are once again excited to bring you another special edition with colored illustrations, once again done by the talented Theri (@jetsettheri), go support his work at his twitter handle.

Aside from that, this volume will set Rimuru and his gang up for the epic showdown with the Empire, which will fill up the entirety of the next volume. We hope to bring you that one as well.

Regarding Various Name Changes

You heard that right. Moving forward, we’ve discussed changing a number of names and amending a few mistakes of the past, a luxury that digital releases allow us. Another luxury that digital releases offer, is the ability to pick your own names using our very own Slime Reader. Please do check it out, if you aren’t satisfied with the default name choices or just want to pick some really funny ones.

Some of the previous choices were based on the obsolete Web Novel translation, others were simply what we picked at the time. Either way, these are some of the notable changes:

Ruminas → Luminas (Including all other names related to her, starting with an R)

Seven Celestials → Seven Luminaries

hero and Chosen Hero → champion and Hero

Yuurazania → Eurazania

And a few more. Our previous works will be updated over the following days. Of course, these changes can be reverted using Slime Reader, if you so choose. Suggest additional name choices here: https://forms.gle/ouGH6zuAesejVJKM7

Regarding Future Translations

We will continue with volume 13 next, and might see some new, and maybe some old faces working on this one. Either way, you can follow our progress live on Slime Reader.

    1. The open source Calibre, along with some custom scripts to streamline the styling. The cool thing about Calibre is the ability to edit epub files directly (they’re really just a .zip file with html inside).

  30. Thank you very much for doing this! Not having to wait for the snails pace official release is a blessing, ill probably be old and gray by the time they finish haha! Very excited to see how the next volume plays out compared to the WN , looking forword to the release official or otherwise.

  35. Let me just say thank you for everything you guys are doing. Silly me, I started this series back when volume 8 (the official translation of is) was just coming for sale on Amazon. I didn’t realize it wasn’t finished. How painful it’s been to wait for new volumes to come out. Though of course I still plan to buy to official copies, after all, they won’t keep making them if no one buys them, I still plan to hang round here for future translations as well. I love being able to stay a little ahead.

    Also, thank you thousand times over for the name updates. I know translations are tricky, but the difference in naming between the light novels official translations and here were a little confusing sometimes. Thank you so much for that added feature.

  36. Hi guys I don’t mean to nitpick but I think the Argos, eye of God thing is a reference to Argus from Greek mythology (he was a creature with many eyes all over his body enabling him to see anything). Freak work as always!

    2. Yeah, there are several ways to romanize the ancient Greek name. I guess I didn’t realize the alternate spelling with u was more popular in English. I was more familiar with the Greek spelling of the same name with an o. It’s a minor change we can make in the next revision, thanks for the info.

  39. Since I couldn’t wait, I tried reading Vol 13 (MTL) and I snapped I almost banged my head in the wall. I wonder why some people can tolerate MTLs…
    Anyway, I am sincerely hoping that translating vol13 is doing well… thank you so much for your great great great work!!!

    1. Slime reader has it at 26%, so probably awhile. Estimate 6 months to a year but you can check progress, so they may increase speed. Just have to be patient. The series is still in work anyway. If the wiki is correct then Volume 19 comes out in Japan this month.

  49. With the current pace of the official release i wonder if Tensurafan will get lapped. Vol 13 is out at end of march 2022. I wonder if it would be easier to work on vol 14 instead if they want to stay ahead. I don’t know if everyone is reading tensura fan because it’s farther ahead of official or because it’s free. I still buy the books when they come out, i just crave more tensura so i read ahead on here lol. I am still super thankful for Tensurafan and all they do. i wish them luck and speed!
